HIV is a preventable disease, but many healthcare providers are failing to offer PrEP to their patients. Some are not comfortable discussing sexual health, while others erroneously believe that most of their patients would not benefit from this service or that it must be provided by a specialist.
Prep is 99% effective at preventing HIV when taken as prescribed, and the only prerequisites are blood tests to check for active HIV infection and kidney function, and a commitment to take the medication as ordered.
We can provide this service via a telehealth visit to those residing in or visiting the state of Kansas. We can make an assessment, order the required lab testing, and send a prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.
Melissa Haverkamp, APRN, FNP-C is a member of the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIV) and adheres to their guidelines for PrEP, which include the principle that if you ask for PrEP, you qualify for its use as long as you are not already infected with HIV or have poor kidney function.
To help meet our goal of providing PrEP to anyone who may need it, we offer a generous sliding scale structure that you can utilize whether you have insurance or not.
Lab testing is collected in the privacy of your home or at the laboratory of your choice and is not included in the cost of the visit.

For those experiencing gender incongruence, it is especially important to have a provider that listens to you, makes sure that you are heard, and stays current on the most recent recommendations for treatment. This is an area of medicine that is in its infancy and illustrates the practice of Medicine as an art in addition to a science. It is important that the provider you choose have a firm understanding of endocrinology and of your goals of care to achieve the best outcomes while optimizing overall health.
Melissa Haverkamp, APRN, FNP-C is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the United States Professional Association for Transgender Health (USPATH) and adheres to their Standards of Care; this includes the use of the Endocrine Society clinical guidelines for GAHT.
We believe that every person should have the opportunity to live an authentic and happy life, and we are here to support that in any way that we can.
We can provide GAHT as a stand-alone service if you already have a primary care provider, and we offer telehealth visits to anyone living in the state of Kansas. To meet our goal of providing this essential service to anyone who needs it, we have a generous sliding scale discount that can be utilized whether you are self pay or have health insurance. The sliding scale fee can be as little as $0.
Lab testing is collected in the privacy of your home or at the laboratory of your choice and is not included in the cost of the visit. However, we can determine the cost of medications and lab studies prior to sending orders.

Functional medicine is rooted in biochemistry and improves health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual. It does not replace the current treatments that you are receiving, but is used in conjunction with them to further improve your health. For instance, if you have high cholesterol despite changes to your diet and increasing your activity level, you are likely taking a medication like rosuvastatin. These medications work quite well, but they reduce the supply of Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) in your body. CoQ10 is a substance that helps convert food into energy and it is found in almost every cell in the body. It is a powerful antioxidant, which fight damaging particles in the body known as free radicals. Free radicals damage cell membranes, tamper with DNA, and even cause early cell death. Functional medicine has taught us that CoQ10 replacement should occur when a patient is taking a statin to lower cholesterol. This is just one example of the application of functional medicine.
